Our teachers are qualified to adapt the most modern didactic techniques and the practice of the language to the needs of each level and each group in order to get the best results. As in their mother tongue, children have to speak, listen, write, play, act, paint and sing. We make sure of a correct learning, monitoring, and above all we want our students not only to learn a language, but we also want them to gain confidence when learning how to communicate in a different language and therefore increase their motivation to learn more. Our workshops are a dynamic and fun alternative to an English lesson, where the kids learn the language without realizing.
GRAMATICA
AREAS DE COMUNICACION
In our workshops, our goal is that students discover and express their abilities, being artistic techniques beneficial for them because they help their individuality and their self- esteem to develop, encouraging their creative and inventive personality benefiting their expression, their perception and their organization.
This workshop is a dynamic and fun alternative to an English lesson, where the kids learn the language without realizing.
MODULE 1: LET’S RECYCLE
FROM SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER
Kids will work with materials that they bring from their own home or the ones we recycle together.
Our goal is not only that the children get used to listening the foreign language, but also to work the three dimensions and develop their imagination; creating new possibilities with recycled objects and at the same time looking after the environment.
At the end of this module, the school will be decorated with everything that the children have created in order to celebrate a Christmas party!
SEPTEMBER: The month of the paper and the carton.
OCTOBER: The month of nature: leaves, cotton, wood
NOVEMBER: The month of fabrics
DECEMBER: The month of plastic
MODULE 2: LET’S PAINT!
JANUARY AND FEBRUARY
Children love painting their craft work, paper and their colouring books. It’s important to find non toxic paints so the kids can use them. Those paints which dry fast and are easy to clean are appreciated by both parents and teachers when working with children. Children love bright colours and creamy textures. Some paints have peculiar smells which could irritate those children with asthma or allergies, but there is a huge range of paints that are safe and suitable for kids. During these two months children will develop their creativity by experimenting with the different types of paintings.
Acrylics:
They come in tubes or squeezable bottles and they dry very fast; which makes them the perfect product to use with children. Moreover, they are easy to clean. They are perfect to pain three – dimensional objects such as gypsum figures, wooden boxes or even clothing!
Finger paint:
It’s the children’s favourite! It is dense and colourful so they will love squeezing it with their hands and making designs on a sheet of paper.
Poster paint:
It’s easy to use and it isn’t toxic; but it should be inspected before buying it as it could have a funny smell. They come in metallic and fluorescent colours to create special decorations or for posters.
Tempera:
It’s the most used at schools. They could be used to paint with the fingers and they could be used to paint card, carton and paper mache. It isn’t toxic but it has certain smell. When using this paints, adults must make sure that the children protect their clothes as these type of paints could be difficult to clean.
MODULE 3: WE ARE JEWELLERS
MARCH
Releasing stress and exercise your patience has never been so funny!
Costume jewellery can be created in many shapes, materials, colours and designs. Children can make necklaces, wristbands …etc. As is a full on hand – made project, it will help children to release tension, stress and anxiety. Moreover, as it is their own design, they are developing their creativity and intelligence while improving their psychomotor activity. During this month, the kids will become little jewellers making designs for their parents, siblings, grandparents … and even for themselves!
MODULE 4: SPIELBERG WILL BE PROUD OF OUR LITTLE ACTORS!
FROM APRIL TO JUNE
During these three months kids will practice the performance of a small play in English for their parents and their family. With theatre, kids increase their self – esteem, they learn how to work as part of a team and respect others, they discover their emotions and learn to express and control them, they learn the meaning of discipline and they learn to control stage fright. Theatre can also be helpful:
The best age for kids to start attending drama lessons is at the age of five. At this age, they can already read, understand and their memory strength is high. Kids suck in all they hear.
THEATRE IS EDUCATION AND JOY:The fact that a child goes to drama lessons doesn’t mean that he / she will become an actor. At Nursery school, children neither do theatre nor learn theatre. They play to create, to invent and they learn to participate as part of a group. Drama lessons at Nursery school are therapeutic and socializing. Group activities, exercises to improve their psychomotor activity and the physical contact with their friends are the pillars of drama studies. Theatre is an endless field of both fun and education. For very young kids, theatre shouldn’t only be the performance of a show. It’s not about promoting little stars, but about an experience gained through games.
NOTE FOR PARENTS: Parents should be prepared for some extra expenses on the material used in this workshop: trinkets, paints, costumes for the play… The school will make sure that the expense is small and we will let parents know in advance what they should bring to the different sessions. The common goal is for the kids to have a fantastic time!
When it comes to working emotions with children, we have to bear in mind that changes happen from the inside to the outside, creating a new meaning thanks to the search for inner solutions. When he / she is in charge of his / her own emotions, the child could control them in a calm and responsible way, substituting the anger or impulsiveness tantrums for a control of his / her feelings. At the same time, exploring their own is a good way to understand other people’s feelings, developing the ability of empathy, learning to have social relationships with their counterparts, creating healthy social bonds. This balanced emotional state makes children to keep their attention and motivation on whatever they are doing, without any mental disturbance which could suck up all their time; so their performance at school will be better.
GOALS
METHODOLOGY
Through the different techniques of emotional intelligence and the professional feedback, we will provide the children with individual aspects to work on each session such as the management of emotions, assertiveness, empathy … etc. This workshop is based on dynamic activities related with art, music and expressive movement in order to find, recognise and assimilate emotions. It helps to stimulate emotional self – conscience: Defining what emotions are and how can we use then in our daily life. Recognising and assimilating emotions through group activities to get to know their own body and its non – verbal language.
Directing emotions through: body expression, music, and audiovisual projections. Reflecting within a space “the circle of trust” where each child will be able to ask for anything they want and anything they need. Providing strategies in order to assimilate the different emotions. Children will learn healthy strategies for a suitable emotional response such as distancing, social support, planning how to solve conflicts, behavioural distraction, coherence of emotions and thoughts. Developing social skills. Active listening, assertive communication and team work.
The sessions will be one hour and thirty minutes long. This workshop is based on the importance of learning while enjoying and developing emotional skills through emotional coaching. Each session will be dedicated to one emotion which will be worked through activities related to arts developing their creativity and their spontaneity. In order to develop their linguistic skills they will also learn how to express their emotions in English.
Requirements: Comfortable clothing.
Ages: Nursery and Primary School children.
We will make a progress report. At the end of the workshop, we will give each parent a report informing about the progress achieved. They can ask for a meeting to solve any inquiry they have.
